ASIAN GAMES 2018

The Asian Games is a multi-disciplinary sports event held once in every four years. Athletes from all Asian countries are welcomed to participate in this event. The Asian Games is recognised by the International Olympic Committee and is the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics. 

The 2018 Asian Gamesofficially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta–Palembang 2018was a pan-Asian multi-sport eventheld from 18 August to 2 September 2018 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. 

For the first time, the Summer Asian Games were co-hosted by two cities; the Indonesian capital of Jakarta (which was hosting the Games for the first time since 1962, and Palembang, the capital of the South Sumateraprovince.

On 5 May 2014, the OCA visited some Indonesian cities including Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, and Palembang. At this time Surabaya decided to drop their bid to host the Games and instead focus on hosting the already scheduled 2021 Asian Youth Games. 

On 25 July 2014, during a meeting in Kuwait Citythe OCA appointed Jakarta as the host of the Games with Palembang as the supporting host. 

Jakarta was chosen because of its well-equipped sports facilities, adequate transportation networks, and other facilities such as hotels and lodgings for guests. On 20 September 2014, Indonesia signed the host city contract, and during the closing ceremony of 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, Indonesia was appointed symbolically by the OCA to host the next Games. An organising committee was formed soon after the appointment.

The opening ceremony started at 19:00 Western Indonesia Time on Saturday, 18 August 2018. Wishnutama, CEO of Indonesian TV network NET. was the creative director for the ceremony. The ceremony stage showcased a towering 26 meter-high mountain with a waterfall as its background, accompanied by Indonesian plants and flowers.The games was officially opened by the President of Republic Indonesia, Joko Widodo. 

The OCA approved reductions in the programme in response to cost concerns. These changes reduced the total number of events to 431. For the first time in Asian Games history, eSports was contested as demonstration sports in the Games. 

All 45 members participated in the games. North Korea and South Korea competed as a team.in some events under the name "Korea" (COR), and marched together under the Korean Unification Flag during the opening and closing ceremonies.

The closing ceremony started at 19:00 Western Indonesian time on Sunday, 2 September 2018 and ended at 21:25. In addition to local artists and a Chinese segment, the South Korean boybands Super Junior and iKon, and Indian singer Sidharta Slathia performed in the ceremony.

This event officially closed by Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, President of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih

BAWANG MERAH BAWANG PUTIH

BAWANG Putih lived with her step mother and her step sister, Bawang Merah. Bawang Putih’s mother died when she was a baby.

 Her father remarried another woman and later her step sister was born. Unfortunately, not long after that her father died. 

Since then, Bawang Putih’s life was sad. Her step mother and her step sister treated Bawang Putih badly and always asked her to do all the household chores.

One morning, Bawang Putih was washing some clothes in a river. Accidentally, her mother’s clothes were washed away by the river. She was really worried so she walked along the river side to find the clothes. Finally she met an old woman. She said that she kept the clothes and would give them back to Bawang Putih if she helped the old woman do the household chores. Bawang Putih helped her happily. After everything was finished, the old woman returned the clothes. She also gave Bawang Putih a gift. The old woman had two pumpkins, one pumpkin was small and the other one was big. Bawang Putih had to choose one.

Bawang Putih was not a greedy girl. So she took the small one. After thanking the old woman, Bawang Putih then went home. When she arrived home, her step mother and Bawang Merah were angry. They had been waiting for her all day long. Bawang Putih then told about the clothes, the old woman, and the pumpkin. Her mother was really angry so she grabbed the pumpkin and smashed it to the floor. Suddenly they all were surprised. Inside the pumpkin they found jewelries. 

“Bawang Merah, hurry up. Go to the river and throw my clothes into the water. After that, find the old woman. Remember, you have to take the big pumpkin,” the step mother asked Bawang Merah to do exactly the same as Bawang Putih’s experience.

 Bawang Merah immediately went to the river. She threw the clothes and pretended to search them. Not long after that, she met the old woman. Again she asked Bawang Merah to do household chores. She refused and asked the old woman to give her a big pumpkin. The old woman then gave her the big one. Bawang Merah was so happy. She ran very fast. When she arrived home, her mother was impatient. She directly smashed the pumpkin to the floor. They were screaming. There were a lot of snakes inside the pumpkin! They were really scared. They were afraid the snakes would bite them. “Mom, I think God just punished us. We had done bad things to Bawang Putih. And God didn’t like that. We have to apologize to Bawang Putih,” said Bawang Merah.

Finally both of them realized their mistakes. They apologized and Bawang Putih forgave them. Now the family is not poor anymore. Bawang Putih decided to sell all the jewelries and used the money for their daily lives.

HOLIDAY IN THE LAST DAY OF 2019

FUNNIEST HOLIDAY EVER

At 30th December 2019, my sister and I went to Hussein Airport. We had a schedule to spend our 1 week of holiday in Singapore. It was only both of us. Our parents couldn't join because they were busy with their works and didn't have more time. This was our first time to go without them. We didn't use some travel guide too.

We finally arrived at 18.00 (Singapore time). We took a dinner at Jewel Changi Mall exactly at Subway, some kind of sandwich mini bar. The food was very nice.
After that, we went to Chinatown area because there was our hostel. The name of the hostel is The Boutique Capsule Hostel. I like the concept of it. The rooms are small but they serve us perfectly.

Next day at 31th December 2019 we packed our belongings, dressed up and had a breakfast at Fun Toast. It is the legendary toast from Singapore. And then, we moved to the 2nd hostel. I won't say the name. But i was very disappointed. The hostel is not quite clean. But we had no choices. So, we decided to putted our languages.  After it, we went to Bugis Junction with MRT to spent a half of this day. I had fun there until I was aware that i just lost my MRT card. It felt so bad. I was trying to find it when i knew the balance on the card is still a lot. But the result wasn't success. I didn't know where it is. I almost cried at that time. Because there was no solution except i bought the new one, i went to MRT again.

We were deciding to went to Mariana Barrage because it was 19.00 o'clock. Tonight we had been planning to did a short picnic in the last day of 2019, especially for watched fireworks from Mariana Barrage. It is a bit far from the central of the fireworks. But it was fine because we can took a rest by sited there with a nice view of Singapore City around us. We thought there was only local people who want to did a picnic with their family.

How about the tourists?
Maybe most of them decided to spend the new year at Museum Esplanade, Merlion Park, Mariana Bay, or another more places. Definitely i don't know where the most crowded place is.
I can say that it was my finest day i have ever felt.
We saw the (i don't know that is by drones or lights) show and the phase 1 of the fireworks. And at 00.00 o'clock, the main event began. There was lots of unique and magnificent fireworks.
1 word to describe it, it was bautiful.

At 2.00, we went back to the hostel. But i couldn't sleep. The room is not comfortable.

And the next days, we went to Merlion Park, Marina Bay to saw the lightshow, Temphenis Mall, Garden by the bay, and many more.
That week was very awesome!
I hope i can have another chance to go back there

______________________________________________________________________ Anoa, also known as midget buffalo and sapiutan, are a subgenus of Bubalus comprising two species endemic to the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia: the mountain anoa (Bubalus quarlesi) and the lowland anoa (Bubalus depressicornis). Both live in undisturbed rainforest and are similar in appearance to miniature water buffalo, weighing 150–300 kg (330–660 lb). Both species of anoa have been classified as endangered since the 1960s and the populations continue to decrease. Fewer than 5,000 animals of each species likely remain. Reasons for their decline include hunting for hides, horns and meat by the local peoples and loss of habitat due to the advancement of settlement. Currently, hunting is the more serious factor in most areas. After a study of the skulls of many anoa, it was shown that there was hybridizing and interbreeding between the two. It was questioned as to whether the two species were actually different due to mixing of the two in many different areas, as well as some interbreeding. After analyzing the DNA of the two, it was proven that they are in fact different species. _______________________________________________________________________ Habitat Both the lowland anoa (Bubalus depressicornis) and the mountain anoa (Bubalus quarlesi) are endemic to the islands of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Sulawesi is a unique area due to the fact that roughly 61% of the species found there are endemic species, including the anoa. The key difference between the two species is the areas of habitat that is utilized on the islands. The mountain anoa is found at higher elevations than its lowland counterpart and is found in the forested mountainous regions. The lowland anoa spends its time in the lower elevation areas and is also found in core habitat of forested area. The habitat needs of both species can have some overlap and oftentimes the two species are found in the same area. The key factor to where they are found is core forested habitat away from humans. _______________________________________________________________________ Morphology The anoa have many physical characteristics of bovine relatives and are considered to be most closely related to the water buffalo, which was confirmed through DNA analysis. However, some scientists believe they may be more closely related to the Asian antelope. All anoa vary in appearance, but have the same standard characters. The two species diverged due to a difference in elevation and a slight change in habitat from the latter, but their physical characteristics remain similar. The anoa is the smallest of the wild cattle species. When anoa are born, they have a set of thick, woolly fur that comes in many color variations ranging from yellow to brown. In adults, the fur is typically brown or black and males tend to have darker variations. Hair thickness varies slightly between the two species based on elevation and distribution. In both species of anoa, horns are present on both males and females and are typically straight protuberances. Another defining characteristic of the anoa is an extremely thick hide underneath the thick fur. _______________________________________________________________________ Conservation The anoa are endemic to the island of Sulawesi and are currently experiencing large declines in their populations. Knowledge of their decline has only recently been documented, however, and the villages and villagers lack the knowledge of how to help maintain or increase populations. The leading cause of their population decline is, in fact, hunting by the local villagers and not having restrictions or proper management strategies.[citation needed] The one benefit is that villagers are open to communication with researchers on their harvests and hunting practices. The second leading cause of population decline is habitat loss and in the region of Tangkoko the anoa are actually extirpated. Logging is a large issue due to the fact that both species prefer core forested habitat that is far away from humans and the influences that come with them. By logging, humans create much more fragmented habitat and, therefore, a decrease in the area where the anoa can breed and live. This habitat fragmentation also alters the natural mixing of populations of the anoa.
